Brian Howe

My professional journey includes roles in the UK, China, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, and Colombia. I have served as a Senior Lecturer at Tianjin University and held various chemistry teaching posts at prestigious international schools across Beijing, Tianjin, and Kyrenia. My earlier career also included research and consultancy positions in analytical and medicinal chemistry, notably at Charles University, the Federal University of Paraiba, and the Bogotá Water Board.

I am a published researcher with contributions to journals such as Inorganic Chemistry, Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, and Metal-Based Drugs and a  Chartered Chemist and member of the Royal Society of Chemistry since 1993, I bring a globally informed, research-driven approach to science education and communication.

My academic background lies in chemistry and pharmaceutical sciences. I earned my Doctor of Philosophy degree in Medicinal Chemistry from the University of Manchester, where I conducted advanced research in drug design and metal-based compounds. Prior to this, I completed a Master of Science in Analytical Chemistry and Instrumentation at the University of Bristol, gaining expertise in laboratory techniques and chemical analysis. I also hold a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) in Chemistry from the University of Nottingham, reflecting my formal training in science education. My foundational studies were completed at the University of Nottingham with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Chemistry.
